Animals loose in NYC by Thomas Wilder
Wilder on his project:
Two weeks ago a dolphin got stuck in the Gowanus Canal here in Brooklyn which made me wonder what other wild animals have gotten loose in NYC. I created these series of “wanted posters” for animals who have been loose in NYC in the past ten years. Surprisingly the animals range from a mysterious ghost dog to a bengal Tiger in Harlem.
I adore these pieces from Beautiful Evidence, an exhibition by Thomas Allen inspired by his 8-year old daughter’s scientific wonder. It will be appearing at the Foley Gallery in NYC from September 9 - October 12.
In case you’ve ever wondered what goes on up there, aerial photographer Alex MacLean has assembled his book Up On the Roof: New York’s Hidden Skyline Spaces.
Times Square will soon have some unusual sights among its bright lights:
This spring, visitors to New York City’s Times Square will be treated to a stunning show of fluorescent microscopy images flashing from NBC Universal’s high-definition screen. From April 20 to 22, snapshots of human muscle, ovarian cancer, and embryonic cells will share the much-coveted ad real estate with high-end fashion and entertainment billboards.
