The Super Collider Pavilion by Michael Janz

Janz on his project:

The Super Collider Pavilion is a conceptual proposal for a large public art project. It is intended to symbolically refer to an actual high energy particle accelerator such as the Large Hadron Collider built in Switzerland. In this proposal, visitors can climb the stairs and walk onto the circular path that leads to the symbolic collision of particles. This collision is represented by a large cluster of white tubes and black spheres, which represent the paths that the particles might have taken immediately after a collision. The entire structure would be made of steel.

These are the people who know what all those wires are connected to. From The Big Bang Experiments at CERN by Antonio Saba.

The Atlantic’s In Focus has assembled a phenomenal photo gallery of The Fantastic Machine That Found the Higgs Boson.

These beautiful quilts by Kate Findlay aren’t patterned after tradition. Instead, these ultramodern quilts find their inspiration from the Large Hadron Collider. Learn more about Ms. Findlay and her quilts in this article from Symmetry magazine.

Cosmic Song is a work of art and cosmic ray detector embedded in the floor of one of the building entrances at CERN. It lights up with the constant rain of cosmic ray particles from outer space as people stand on the sculpture. The piece is made by the French artist Serge Moro.
