Research scientist and photographer Alan Jaras began by experimenting with Twisting Light and then moved on to Bending Light. Once he got the hang of that, he started Taming Light.
His process is almost as interesting as his results:
Small ‘scenes’ (24mmX36mm) are constructed out of shaped plastic, resins and other transparent or coloured materials and the refraction patterns they make are captured directly on to 35mm colour film. This is ‘lensless’ photography - here the object itself becomes the lens.
